Introduction

Bud Authority is committed to making budauthority.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including users who rely on assistive technology. We design and build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard and continuously audit our site against it.

Section 01

Our Conformance Target

This website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. This means we commit to:

  • Perceivable content: Text alternatives for non-text content. Captions where video is used. Sufficient color contrast (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Operable interfaces: Full keyboard navigation. Visible focus indicators. No keyboard traps. Skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Understandable structure: Semantic HTML. Consistent navigation. Form labels positioned above inputs. Error identification.
  • Robust compatibility: Valid markup. ARIA where semantic HTML is insufficient. Tested with screen readers.
Section 02

Features Implemented

  • Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page (visible on keyboard focus).
  • Semantic HTML landmarks: header, nav, main, footer.
  • Alt text on all non-decorative images.
  • Form inputs with persistent labels and error messaging.
  • Focus rings on all interactive elements, never removed with `outline: none` without a visible replacement.
  • Color contrast reviewed against WCAG AA on every component.
  • Age gate respects keyboard users and screen readers.
Section 03

Known Limitations

  • Some third-party embeds (Google Tag Manager, analytics scripts) may not fully inherit our accessibility configuration.
  • Motion-reduction preferences are respected for non-essential animations; some background decorative effects persist but do not block content.

We are actively remediating these gaps as part of our quarterly accessibility review cycle.

Section 04

Feedback and Contact

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, we want to hear about it so we can fix it. Contact us at:

  • Email: accessibility@budauthority.com
  • Mailing: Bud Authority Accessibility Team, via the audit form

We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Section 05

Assessment Approach

We assess accessibility using:

  • Manual keyboard-only navigation audits
  • Automated testing (axe-core, Lighthouse)
  • Screen reader testing (VoiceOver, NVDA)
  • Color contrast analyzers
  • Quarterly end-to-end reviews as part of our Apex Quality Assurance Mastery Protocol
